The Honor of Kings esports roadmap presentation was held on Thursday (25/7/24) at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Central Jakarta. At the event, Country Manager Lead Level Infinite Indonesia, Agung Chaniago revealed a snippet of the Honor of Kings esports game work program for the next year, and the surprise was during the presentation regarding the qualifiers for the Honor of Kings International Championship (KIC) 2024.
According to Agung, there will be 12 teams that are entitled to take part in the qualifiers for KIC, in the following order: 8 team slots from professionals, 2 team slots from the Indonesian open series – in-game qualifier, and the remaining 2 come from the HoK Indonesia City Tournament.
What’s interesting is the professional team slot. Apart from the first six teams invited (Team RRQ, Alter Ego, Talon Esports, Kagendra, Dominator, and Voin Esports), there are 2 new team names participating in the Honor of Kings esports scene. Namely, ONIC Esports and Bigetron Esports.
For information, Bigetron Esports has actually tried out the Honor of Kings scene via its new organization, Back-to-Retro. However, now suddenly there seems to be a change of direction, Back-to-Retro “takes off the mask” to become Bigetron Esports.
ONIC Esports is very surprising because they are now opening their hearts to Honor of Kings, even though they have been very successful in the “neighbor’s MOBA” game.
Reflecting on what has happened before, the presence of ONIC Esports and Bigetron Esports in Honor of Kings should not have much effect on the MLBB division of each team. One fatal thing that might happen next is the removal of battle emotes from the ONIC Esports and Bigetron Esports teams. However, that may not necessarily happen either, so let’s just wait and see!
