Paul Pogba banned after failing dope test

Paul Pogba handed 4-year ban after failing dope test!

According to reports on Thursday, Juventus’ star midfielder Paul Pogba received a four-year football sentence. The former Manchester United midfielder tested positive for testosterone in September, leading to a provisional suspension.

The World Cup champion from France faces a four-year sentence from Italy’s sports prosecutors since the playmaker was accused of doping. In September, Pogba was placed on indefinite leave by Juventus following their 3-0 victory against Udinese in the Italian Serie A opener.

The anti-doping tribunal in Italy has agreed on the demands made by Pogba’s legal team, and the player’s hearing was rescheduled from January 18 to an unspecified date. Delegates from Pogba have already said they would not speak at the anti-doping hearing.

A protracted suspension from sport was always anticipated for Pogba following his trial at the NADO tribunal in Rome. Anti-doping prosecutors targeted the Juventus midfield midfielder in December with the possibility of a four-year penalty.

The Juventus and France midfield player was put on temporary suspension in September following the discovery of DHEA, a hormone that can raise testosterone levels, in a preliminary test. This hormone gives athletes more endurance. The 30-year-old tested positive in August of last year following Juventus’ August 20 match at Udinese. Instead of playing in the Serie A match, the France international rested on the sidelines.

Based on reliable sources, Pogba might have cut his desired suspension in half if he could prove he didn’t do drugs on purpose. The Juventus playmaker’s penalty would have only lasted a few months if he could have shown that the banned substance had been taken out of competition.

To his satisfaction, two years after joining Manchester United for £89 million from Juventus, Pogba emerged as the greatest and most expensive football player in history and helped France win the World Cup.

He did, however, return to Juventus in 2022 following a lackluster tenure at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba is anticipated to file an appeal with the independent Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a Swiss-based organization, challenging his four-year doping penalty.

This is extremely concerning because, if the ban is not reversed, it might put his otherwise brilliant career in peril. Pogba’s ban will begin on the day the positive test result is received, should CAS uphold the sentence. This implies that Pogba, who will turn 33 on August 20, 2027, will be able to participate in games.
