Paula Badosa, a Spanish tennis player, ended Mirra Andreeva’s debut in the first round of the Italian Open, Rome, 2024 season.
The former world number 2 tennis player did not face many obstacles when he beat 17 year old Andreeva with a convincing result of 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Italian Open at Foro Italico, Rome.
The match is one of the most anticipated first rounds at the Italian Open this week. Meanwhile, WTA Newcomer of the Year Andreeva’s debut in the 2023 season is clearly eagerly awaited, as is the Spanish national’s first match on her third visit to Rome.

Last season, the world number 126 reached the quarter-finals in Rome, but the WTA level 1000 tournament was the last tournament she played in that season. A serious back injury hampered the tennis player in the remainder of the 2023 season and since then, problems have continued to bother him.
However, against world number 40 Andreeva, Badosa approached her best game in 1 hour 34 minutes to record her first win since March 19 2024 when she beat Romanian tennis player Simona Halep in the first round of the Miami Open.
A 45-minute rain delay in the first set – with the 26-year-old already leading 5-1 – did little to dampen the Spaniard’s momentum.
Both players hit more winners while making fewer unforced errors. But in the end, the world number 126 tennis player produced 23 winners by making 13 unforced errors, while Andreeva hit 21 winners by making 15 unforced errors.
The 26 year old tennis player managed to convert five of the 11 break point opportunities he created and saved five of the seven break point opportunities he faced before finally emerging as the winner.
Paula Badosa will meet American tennis player and 21st seed, Emma Navarro in the second round of the Italian Open.
In the same match draw, Diana Shnaider also performed strongly after she crushed Belgian tennis player Greet Minnen 6-2, 6-3 and booked a second round match against the 15th seed and her compatriot, Liudmila Samsonova.
Meanwhile, Shelby Rogers will be the first opponent for the 2024 Australian Open runner-up and seventh seed, Zheng Qinwen, after the American beat Italian Lisa Pigato with a landslide result of 6-1, 6-0.
