Tech3 GasGas rookie Pedro Acosta has sent shockwaves through the MotoGP world with a blistering start to his premier class career.
In just his first two Grand Prix races, the young Spaniard has defied expectations by already claiming a podium finish.
Acosta’s impressive march began at the opening round in Qatar, where he battled his way through the field to challenge for a top-four position before ultimately finishing ninth.
This early glimpse of his talent set the stage for an even more remarkable performance at the following Algarve Grand Prix.
There, Acosta carved his way through the pack once again, this time securing a sensational third-place finish, his first taste of MotoGP glory.
This meteoric rise has not only turned heads but also injected a surge of youthful energy into the 2024 MotoGP season.
“I only have good words for the whole team because it’s not so easy to come to a MotoGP bike, with a new track, with a new experience for us, it’s not easy to manage my head because I know that I’m not the easiest person in a race weekend,” Acosta said.
“They are working like hell. Every morning that I wake up I have like 20 messages from my data [engineer] and my crew chief, having many things and many photos to check, to understand where to improve.” Acosta added.
Acosta’s rapid adaptation to the unforgiving world of MotoGP is a testament to his exceptional talent and unwavering dedication.
The future looks bright for the young rider, and fans eagerly await his next chapter in this thrilling championship.
“We have a new rider, a rookie, but the incredible thing is that he has no pressure,” Tech3 team boss Herve Poncharal said.
“He made an average start in the sprint [in Qatar], then he came back well. He told me, ‘it’s good to make mistakes at the beginning, I’m learning’, so I’ve always used that term since the beginning of the year.” Poncharal added.
