Praveen/Melati Eliminated from Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti were eliminated from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing to Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong with a score of 17-21, 15-21 in the quarter-finals.

Praveen/Melati won the first point in the duel against Zheng/Huang. But after that Zheng/Huang managed to win five consecutive points which made them turn 5-1 ahead.

Zheng/Huang’s sharp attack puts Praveen/Jasmine under pressure. Zheng/Huang then managed to lead with an 8-2 advantage and continued to be 10-4.

Zheng/Huang also managed to lead by six points, 11-5 in the first game interval.

After the first game interval, Praveen/Melati still had trouble finding a good pattern of play. Several times their rotation did not go well and there were often misunderstandings.

Zheng/Huang managed to add points to create a difference of eight points 14-6 before Zheng Siwei’s serve was fouled by the service judge.

Zheng/Huang increased the difference in points to six points at 19-13. Zheng Siwei’s failed service gave Praveen/Melati an opportunity to add points.

However, Zheng/Huang managed to get match points at 20-14. Zheng/Huang finally secured victory at 21-15 after Praveen Jordan’s serve failed.
