Premier League Results: Comeback Is Real, Arsenal Beat Wolves 2-1

Following the postponed Premier League match, Arsenal managed to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Had been left behind at the beginning of the match, Arsenal actually turned ahead through an injury time goal, precisely in the 90+5 minute.

Arsenal vs Wolves match took place at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday (24/2/2022). The Gunners’ dramatic victory was scored thanks to the brilliant action of the French striker, Alexandre Lacazete.

Playing at the opponent’s cage, Wolves took the lead through Hwang Hee-chan’s goal at minute 10. South Korean players scored after taking advantage of an Arsenal defender’s wrong pass.

The ball which was meant to be a pass to the goalkeeper from the right wing was successfully snatched by Hee-chan past the Rasdale goalkeeper and carried to the left side near the line and then flicked thinly into the goal.

Left behind, Arsenal continued to increase attacks. There were 10 attempts were recorded. Two of them lead to goal. However, until the first half ended the score remained 1-0.

Entering the second half, Arsenal immediately attacked. Gabriel Martinelli kicks in in the 46th minute but still deviated to the left. Wolves hit back a minute later, when Hwang Hee-Chan kicked the ball from the front of the box but it was saved by the goalkeeper.

In minute 57, Bukayo Saka’s left kick (Arsenal) was quite threatening even though it deviated to the right. Alexandre Lacazette, caught by Martinelli’s pass, also had a shot but it went wide to the right.

The Gunners attack was quite insistent in the second half. Noted there were 12 attempts launched during the second 35 minutes. But only one can really lead to goal.

Arsenal’s deadlock finally broke on 80 minutes. Substitute Nicolas Pepe made a goal back. The 26-year-old winger scored his first league goal of the season with a strike from inside the box.

Wolves also tried to turn things around again by doing some attacks. Arsenal also had several opportunities.

When the match seemed to be over, Lacazette made a surprise. After several times failing to maximize opportunities, the French striker managed to score a goal past the edge of goalkeeper Jose Sa.

The goal, which counted as Jose Sa’s own goal, was the last in this game. Arsenal won with a score of 2-1.

This victory adds to Arsenal’s three points to sit in fifth place in the English Premier League standings. Mikel Arteta’s squad is now only one point away from Manchester United who are in 4th position.

While this defeat made the Wolves camp stuck in 7th position in the Premier League standings.
