Premier League Results: Liverpool Win 2-0 Over Brighton

Liverpool won 2-0 over Brighton & Hove Albion in Week 29 of the Premier League at Falmer Stadium, Saturday (12/3). This is the Reds’ eighth straight win in the Premier League.

The Reds immediately stepped on the gas from the early minutes to suppress the Brighton defense. Mohamed Salah almost broke the deadlock in the ninth minute, but his shot from the left side was saved by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Liverpool’s attack finally create goal in the 19th minute thanks to Luis Diaz’s goal using Joel Matip’s bait from the middle of the field.

The Liverpool star duo, Mane and Salah also almost widened their advantage in the 32nd and 42nd minutes. However, the two golden opportunities still did not manage to break into Brighton’s goal.

Liverpool had five other golden opportunities through Sadio Mane (3) and Mohamed Salah (2) in the first half. However, Robert Sanchez can still neutralize 5 shots on target Liverpool. Meanwhile, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson only acted once, namely to thwart Leandro Trossard’s chances.

There were no additional goals that occurred until the break of the game. Liverpool still lead 1-0 through goals scored by Diaz.

Former Liverpool player Adam Lallana came on for Steven Alzate at the start of the second half. However, only about five later, he had to be pulled out due to injury. Pascal Gross came in for him.

In the 57th minute Liverpool almost doubled the position to make it 2-0, but Mohamed Salah’s shot hit the crossbar.

Liverpool’s chances to add to the score opened in the 60th minute after Yves Bissouma was considered handball in the penalty box.

The penalty awarded to the visitors was not wasted by Mohamed Salah. Salah’s kick into the middle of the goal outwit Robert Sanchez who moved to the left side.

Hosts Brighton tried to put pressure on Liverpool, but often failed. However, Brighton could show good possession of the ball in this match.

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez made a save in the 73rd minute by denying Liverpool through Jordan Henderson.

Luis Diaz came close to scoring his second goal of the match after being in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Sanchez. It’s just that Diaz’s opportunity could be thwarted by Sanchez, and produced a corner kick.

Brighton posed a serious threat to Liverpool in the dying minutes through Soly March and Danny Wellbeck, but did not score. Without additional goals in the remaining matches, Liverpool won 2-0 over Brighton.

Liverpool are now only 3 points away from the top of the Premier League standings, Manchester City. This victory is very valuable for Liverpool in order to maintain hope of the Premier League title competition this season.
