This is the official website for the English Premier League.

Meanwhile, this defeat keeps Brentford in 14th position in the standings with 20 points.

There are interesting statistics in the English Premier League. In eight of the last 12 seasons, the club that led the standings in the middle of the season will come out as league champions at the end of the competition. And currently, the champion of the 2021/2022 half season is Manchester City.

Although firmly at the top of the standings, but Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola did not want to be careless. Because according to him the season is only half way through. And there are still many matches that must be played by his team.

“There are still 54 points to chase. Thank you for the prayers, but we can’t say the competition is over yet. “Chelsea and Liverpool were outstanding, one of them was a European champion and our rival for several seasons,” Guardiola said as reported by BBC Sport, Thursday (30/12).

Pep Guardiola’s men successfully closed 2021 with 113 goals. The win against Brentford added to a series of 10 maximum results that Kevin De Bryune was able to win in a row.

The situation is increasingly favorable for Man City because Chelsea and Liverpool will duel on Sunday (2/1). The day before, Man City will play Arsenal and first have the opportunity to widen the difference in points to 11 points with Chelsea.
