Premier League Results: Man Utd Held Draw by Leeds United

Manchester United played a goalless draw when hosted by Leeds United in Week 33 of the Premier League at Elland Road, Sunday (25/4).

In a match that was decorated with protests against the Manchester United owner’s family, not many dangerous opportunities were created by the two teams for 2×45 minutes.

Thanks to this result, Manchester United are still in second place in the standings with 67 points, while Leeds are in ninth place with 47 points.

Manchester United have been aggressive since kick-off. Unfortunately, the opportunities the visitors got through Mason Greenwood’s header when the game had only been running for two minutes was still thwarted by Illan Meslier.

In the seventh minute, Marcus Rashford received a long pass from Victor Lindelof. However, Rashford was too hasty in releasing a kick so that he was only sideways on the right side of Illan Meslier’s goal.

Defender Harry Maguire wasted the opportunity for Manchester United to excel in the first half. In the 12th minute, Maguire failed to take advantage of Bruno Fernandes’ free kick after the England defender’s flick missed the target.

Bruno Fernandes’ free kick in the 31st minute also floated slightly over the Leeds crossbar.

Man Utd’s chance to score a free kick was countered by Patrick Bamford in the 38th minute. Scott McTominay’s header in the 40th minute, which took advantage of Fernandes’ free kick, also did not change the score.

Goalkeeper Meslier made a vital save in the 45th minute with a Rashford free kick from outside the area.

The next attack from Manchester United through Maguire’s header, who took advantage of a corner kick, also did not shake the Leeds goal.

In the second half, Man Utd managed to create opportunities through Fernandes. The Portuguese star fired a left-footed shot which the Leeds players could still block.

The match continued to be fierce because both teams were both ambitious to score goals in this match. In the 75th minute, Leeds created an opportunity through Luke Ayling’s speculative shot from outside the penalty box which Dean Henderson could still secure.

Six minutes before normal time the second half ended, Mason Greenwood had a chance to score. However, Greenwood’s efforts still did not lead to goals.

In the remaining match time, Man Utd and Leeds both appeared openly but no goals were created until the second half ended.
