Premier League Results: Man Utd held to a draw with Everton

Manchester United was only able to draw 1-1 when they met Everton in the seventh week of the Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (2/10).

Playing in front of the public itself, Man Utd had a chance to score in the sixth minute. Anthony Martial released a header utilizing Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s pass which was still next to the Everton goal.

The Toffees responded through set pieces. Andros Towsend’s ball was met by Michael Keane’s header which was still wide in the 16th minute.

Four minutes later it was Man Utd’s turn to threaten. Edinson Cavani, who played from the first minute, got a chance through a header that Jordan Pickford usually anticipated.

Man Utd’s efforts to score a new goal yielded results two minutes before the normal time of the first half was over. Bruno Fernandes’ breakthrough bait was not wasted by Martial who fired a shot into the left corner of the goal without being able to be blocked by Pickford and made the score change to 1-0 in the first half.

Man Utd made two substitutions early in the second half. Cristiano Ronaldo came on for Cavani and Martial was replaced by Jadon Sancho.

Eight minutes after the change Everton could actually equalize to 1-1. Andros Townsend fired a low shot that David de Gea couldn’t anticipate using Abdoulaye Doucoure’s pass.

The visitors were even able to turn 2-1 ahead in the 85th minute. Yerry Mina easily took advantage of Tom Davies’ pass to thrill the Man Utd goal.

However, the goal was disallowed by the referee because Mina was already in an offside position before receiving Davies’ pass.

After that no more goals were created. The 1-1 draw did not change until the second half was over.

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo looks angry with the results achieved by Manchester United. Ronaldo’s displeased response was seen in a video uploaded by BT Sport via Instagram after the match. When he was about to walk down the hall to the dressing room, the Portugal captain showed an unhappy expression.

Not only that, CR7 also seemed to be grumbling all the way to the dressing room. Even when Everton’s goalscorer Andros Townsend approached, Ronaldo still showed a disappointed face.

Before being matched by Everton, Man United humiliated by Aston Villa at Old Trafford 0-1. Ronaldo himself appeared as a substitute against Everton.

The 36-year-old striker came on in the 57th minute for Edinson Cavani. However, Ronaldo’s appearance did not make the Red Devils add to the score against Everton.

In his appearance for 13 minutes, Ronaldo only fired one shot, but it was not on target.

Instead of adding goals, the Red Devils actually conceded a goal through Townsend. Now Man Utd have only won twice in the last five matches in all competitions.

Failure to get points could make it difficult for the Red Devils to compete for the title. Currently, an additional one point puts Manchester United in third place in the Premier League standings and is prone to being evicted by Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion.
