Saul Alvarez promises to do a lot damage to Gennady Golovkin

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), has as plan to do a lot of damage on the current WBC champion, IBO, WBA middleweight, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), at the moment of their long awaited rematch.

Alvarez will fight Kazakh Golovkin on September 15, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas after a dramatic day of negotiations between both parties finally ended with an agreement this week.

Alvarez and Golovkin faced each other for the first time, in September 2017, in a twelve-round fight, and to the great dissatisfaction of boxers and fans, the judges had sparked a great deal of controversy by setting as a score a shared null verdict.

The rematch was normally scheduled to be held on May 5th, but the shock finally had to be canceled because Alvarez received a six-month ban from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) for testing positive for Clenbuterol, but he’s free to fight from August 17.

The 27-year-old continues to attribute this positive result directly to the fact that he had eaten contaminated meat from Mexico. But Golovkin brushed aside that justification – and even accused the Mexican boxer of taking drugs to improve performance for a long time.

Alvarez took the opportunity to discuss this with Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez. Out of it, he advised the president that he plans to give a severe boxing lesson to Golovkin for making such comments shortly after their first fight.

“This is the most important thing for him. He has the clear impression that he has something to prove against Golovkin, because Gennady has clearly disrespected him!” Gomez told Press Enterprise.

“GGG was plaintive, saying all kinds of excuses after the first fight, and so Canelo can not wait to meet the gloves with Golovkin and he plans to give him a boxing lesson.” Gomez added.

Alvarez on the other hand, he is not worried about the hypothetical loss of popularity and the lack of support that could be his own country – due to the controversy of the drug test.

“Not at all, not at all! He gets the support and support of all Mexican fans, mostly from Mexico’s residents, since they know very well what really happened.” Gomez said.

“They know that in the past, there has been a history of contaminated meat, so they are well informed that other athletes in Mexico have been affected by the contaminated meat.” the former boxer added.
