Serena Williams Coach has stated that she will not quit and may be retired if she is not sure that she is at least equal to Margaret Court’s accomplishments.
US tennis star coach, Patrick Mouratoglou believes that the US tennis star will not stop until at least managed to match the achievements of Margaret Court, one of the Australian tennis legends who collected 24 Grand Slam titles.
The former world number 1 again had to miss the chance to achieve this feat after losing to Naomi Osaka in the semifinals of the Australian Open last week.
The 39-year-old has looked stunning throughout this season’s Australian Open until she meets champion Osaka. He was so emotional that he left the press conference in tears after he was asked about his future in tennis. He stated that if he was going to retire, he would not tell anyone.

However, Mouratoglou believes that the player, who has bagged 23 Grand Slam titles and returned to action in the 2017 season after giving birth to his daughter, will be able to catch up on that target one day.
“It is something that is difficult to measure for people,” said Mouratoglou. “That’s why it’s so sensitive. That’s why it’s so emotional for him. I totally understand it.”
Mouratoglou thinks Williams is motivated to add to his collection of Grand Slam titles with three other chances in the 2021 season.
“I have to believe in it and he also has to believe in it. If not, then he will stop,” added Mouratoglou.
“After all the things she has accomplished in her career, at her age, having a baby for the first time, building a family, what a really hard work it is to get back into tennis, what an effort.”
“That’s how Serena really looks amazing. He sets his standards so high for himself and he finds a way to reach those standards, whatever he does.”
On the question that is often asked about when Serena Williams will choose to hang his racket, Mouratoglou states that it is not a decision that can be taken easily by him, when he will finally decide to do so. “I don’t think he plans to retire for now. He dedicated his whole life to tennis since he was a child. So, on the day he will retire, it will feel like he is ending his 40 years of life.”
