The strategy that Shi Yu Qi prepared for the final round of the Indonesia Open 2024 was not grandiose, he just wanted to play freely to avoid injury.
“I try to appear relaxed so as not to get injured. All the players must experience the same thing so that nothing untoward happens, considering that the next time they will appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Shi Yu Qi. The 2024 French Open champion said that the 2024 Indonesia Open was part of the preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
By winning the Indonesian Open title, Shi Yu Qi admitted that his confidence had increased to continue his journey at the Olympics. “I made the Indonesia Open 2024 tournament a warm-up event before appearing at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics,” said Shi Yu Qi. “Of course winning the title in this tournament has increased my confidence. In the future I will try to evaluate and train again to face the 2024 Paris Olympics,” he said. “Hope that with maximum training, I can win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” he added.
Apart from successfully ending defeat after 35 years, this victory also marked Shi Yu Qi’s revenge against Anders Antonsen. Previously, the 2022 Asian Games silver medalist was defeated by Antonsen in the 2024 Malaysia Open final with a score of 14-21, 13-21.
