Simona Halep Undo Appears at Qatar Open Season 2021

Simona Halep

Simona Halep still has no chance of winning the title, The 2021 season got off to a great start with the success of the Australian Open.

The 2021 season is just starting out and there will be more impressive tournaments in the near future, including the Qatar Open won last season by Aryna Sabalenka and tennis fans are very excited about it. However Halep and Bianca Andreescu announced unpleasant news ahead of this season’s Qatar Open which will be held in Doha.

The world number 3 has decided to withdraw from the Qatar Open this season. He did not provide a reason for his resignation to date, which only made fans even more curious.

“Unfortunately I have decided to resign. I can’t wait to be back in Doha next season,” quoted the organizer from the statement that Simona Halep uploaded on Instagram.

The Romanian national makes a splash at the Australian Open. She made an impressive comeback against Veronika Kudermetova and avenged a defeat in the fourth round of last season’s French Open when she overthrew Iga Swiatek, before falling to her knees before Serena Williams in straight sets in the quarter-finals.

After Naomi Osaka won the Australian Open title this season, the Japanese tennis star has now replaced the Romanian national at number 2 in the world.

Like Halep, world number 9 Andreescu was also forced to withdraw from the Qatar Open due to an injury to his left leg. It was quite a reminder for Andreescu since returning to competition for the first time after almost a season at the Australian Open.

In the first Grand Slam of the season, Andreescu did not enjoy an impressive run, after Hsieh Su Wei knocked him out in the second half. After that, she dropped to the Phillip Island Trophy before losing to Marie Bouzkova in the semifinals.

Fans certainly hope Andreescu’s injury is not serious and that he will recover soon and return to the form he showed when he won the first Grand Slam title of his career at the 2019 US Open.

Qatar Open this season will start on March 6. With two of the top 10 ranked players missing from the draw, it will be very interesting to see who will win the tournament.
