Solskjaer: New Contract is Useless if Man United Fail to Win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is aware that the new contract he has obtained will not guarantee his future. Because, Solskjaer feels the contract will still be useless if he fails to bring Man United to the title.

As is known, Solskjaer has officially extended the duration of his work at Man United in July 2021. The Norwegian coach signed a contract extension until June 2024.

However, Solskjaer said that the contract was not a guarantee for his future at Man United. According to him, his responsibilities as coach of the Red Devils – the nickname of Man United – will remain very heavy because he has to present a trophy.

No doubt, the 48-year-old coach has big ambitions to carve a sweet achievement next season. Solskjaer himself is optimistic that he can beat his rivals in the 2021-2022 Premier League title.

“There’s no reason, even if you’re on a 10-year contract or just a year, if you don’t do well you leave,” said Solskjaer.

“You will feel under pressure all the time. At this club, with this responsibility, you are not just sticking to your job, it’s about the responsibility that is in my hands.”

Please note, Man United has not won a trophy since Solskjaer was made permanent in March 2019. Moreover, the Red Devils have also been fasting for titles on the English League stage since 2012-2013. That season, Manchester United, which was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, last lifted the championship trophy.

Even so, Solskjaer has hopes of being able to win a trophy next season. Because, he has bought new players who are expected to help him win the title and compete with his rivals in the Premier League.

“This season, I feel we and Chelsea have gone through the transfer market well and we are optimistic that we are in a good position as potential challengers (Manchester City and Liverpool),” he continued.

This season, Man United have brought in exciting new players. Those players are Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

With the new ammunition obtained, Man United certainly hopes to show a sweet gait since the beginning of the season. In the 2021-2022 Premier League opener, Man United itself will host Leeds United at Old Trafford on Saturday 14 August 2021.
