Manchester United fans sharpening their knives for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday as his side dropped points in humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverppol at Old Trafford Stadium.
Solskjaer has been the Red Devils manager since he replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018, but many now think it’s time he moved on.
According to a former United star, Garry Neville, he doesn’t believe in an imminent sacking of the Norwegian manager.
“Manchester United need to change. I believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to get the opportunity to change. But there is going to be pressure from every surce.” Neville said.
“There’s no doubt the manager will get an absolute bettering. There will be calls for his head like you wouldn’t believe but you wonder what this defeat will do to the players. How will they pick themeselves up?
“There’s no hidding place after this. United are going to be absolutely demoralised. The next 24 hours is going to be as hot as it has ever been at this football club.” Neville added.
United faced their biggest defeat against Liverpool on Sunday since October 1895 when Liverpool beat them 7-1 at Anfield Stadium.
“It will be difficult to remotivate the players. They will be depressed, but there’s a lot of character. We weren’t good enough individually and as a team.” Solskjaer said.
“You can’t give those chances to a team like Liverpool, but unfortunately we did. We created openings, they had opportunities and they were clinical.” Solskjaer added.
Ther’s a rumour said that Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rogers, Mauricio Pochettino could replace Solskjaer at United.
