The South Tahoe boys and girls basketball teams got into rivalry against Indonesian team at the Blue Gym on Thursday, dated Nov 12. It could be regarded as more cultural to refer to the visit of Developmental Basketball League. Joby Cefalu, Vikings boys coach remarked that it must be taken as much bigger than basketball. Even it is nothing different than the cultural partition that the two countries share. Cefalu also added that the kids like to receive a great deal from it & they are in love of it.
It had been three consecutive years that DBL Indonesia tripped to South Tahoe & brought with them twenty three boys & girls players to the campus of South Lake Tahoe. All the players they brought with them got the ability to match up with their Vikings equivalent and the conclusion of the day was nothing but the basketball exhibitions between STHS & the graded high school basketball competitors from Indonesia. Cefalu did not fail to mention that it was great to have the credit of hosting them at our school and the youngsters love it completely. Apart from it, his excellent remark was allowance must be for our kids & their kids to get into a connection with someone from halfway around the globe. Even he has made it confirmed that a game like basketball is the same, but they can perceive how diverse life is & the cultural differentiation.
It was being traditionally started by South Tahoe to host DBL Indonesia two years ago as part of joint venture with Sacramento Kings. Mo Brazelton has linked Cefalu with the King’s Scott Freshour & it further carried forward when the organization took the players to America.
Cefalu made it very clear that it is custom so far that they expect to continue for admiration. In this regard, the overseas players who travelled to South Tahoe’s campus in time of the visit included the dental lab and theatre arts house. While the Indonesian coaching staff witnessed the Smart Boards in a math classroom, they lightheartedly inquired of whether they were in the year 2150. Apart from it, their time of looking out from the campus’ stadium view building, the DBL players also got the opportunity of witnessing first sight of the view. Cefalu also expressed that the players looked down & observed some kids hurling snowballs. Such pleasant scenes insisted them to get up & also to get out of their chairs and toss snowballs “It was really funny” he thought.
In the year of 2013, the teams participated in an exhibition game before the STHS students. Last year, we saw Indonesian national elections obligated the DBL players to visit for the duration of Vikings’ season.
