Three year Asian Poker Tour deal inked with Resorts World Manila

In the midst of holding a poker tournament series at the Winford Manila Resort and Casino in the Philippines and the Asian Poker Tour (APT) has reportedly inked a deal that will see it return to the nearby Resorts World Manila for another three years of events.

According to a report from GGRAsia, the poker tournament series organizer revealed that the ‘exclusive agreement’ with casino operator Travellers International Hotel Group Incorporated follows its staging at the Manila venue of the twelve-day APT Championships 2017 Philippines, which ran from April 26 of last year and attracted its largest-ever pool of 733 players drawn from 36 nations.

“The APT and Resorts World Manila have fused a strong bond that dates back to 2010,” read a statement from the APT. “Since then, the APT has held 18 successful international poker events at Resorts World Manila including the monumental APT Resorts World Manila Iron Man Poker Challenge back in 2013. This event currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous running poker tournament at 48 hours, 55 minutes and 58 seconds.”

As part of the new agreement, the APT explained that it will be holding a pair of branded events at Resorts World Manila next year beginning with its APT Philippines Championships 2018, which is set to run from March 21 to April 1, before following up in mid-September with its APT Philippines 2018.

“The agreement will guarantee players another three years of APT events at the very popular Resorts World Manila casino venue,” read the statement from the APT. GGRAsia reported that the APT Philippines 2017 poker tournament series, which is currently taking place at the Winford Manila Resort and Casino, was originally scheduled to take place at Resorts World Manila in July but was rescheduled and moved across town after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation regulator revoked the venue’s gaming license in the wake of the June 2 shooting and arson attack that left 38 people dead and more than 50 injured.
