UK Young adults losing interest in online gambling

Online gambling is a kind of addiction which is a kind of difficult to get rid off until and unless you are almost zero in your accounts and you has no money to gamble. With bright flashy lights and lucrative promotions gambling always attract the sharp young minds that in turn start betting. However, one thing is for sure that not everyone is lucky all the time to win a fortune. There have been many incidents where the young have lost a good amount of money and then they realise it is not something that they would like to repeat ever again. Now more and more people are aware of the consequences of online gaming addiction and they know it is better to stay away from it. According to a recent UK gambling survey which indicated that young adults are losing interest in online gambling. As per the survey which indicates that young British adults are no longer gambling and this has invoked a fear among the online gambling operators as their core products are no longer hold the same appeal that they once did.

This latest gambling participation survey conducted by the researchers Populus on behalf of the UK Gambling Commission indicates that 16% respondents participating in some form of online gambling in the first half of 2016. This figure is up by one point from 2015 which was the same from similar surveys since 2013. On a deep analysis of the data, it shows that only 11% of respondents aged 18-24 years reported gambling online which is down from 12% in 2015 and from 17% in 2014. Though other demographics reported higher in numbers in this survey and most of the gains were in single digits while those in the 45-54 age group brackets rose for points to 22% while 55-64’s increased 2 points to 16% and senior citizens were also up two points to 9%.

Even in the non-lottery gambling activity whether it is online or land based, the 18-24 age bracket ranked second lowest (29%) which is behind the senior citizens (27%). This issue of young adults lack of enthusiasm for gambling is likely to spark a lot of discussion regarding the rejection of traditional betting activities and in turn, ask for more interactive skill-based online games which can generate interest among young adults. This number is also a reflection of the dire economic fortunes of the young UK adults whose disposable income is growing at one-third the pace of UK seniors as per Luxembourg Income Study data.
