Khabib Nurmagomedov manager, Ali Abdelaziz, on Tuesday gave an interview to ESNews channel and was approached about the possibility that his client might return to MMA in the future.
The manager promptly denied both Khabib’s return to the fights and the possibility of a rematch with McGregor. Entitled to provocation to ‘Notorious’, suggesting a supposed drug addiction of this one.
“McGregor isn’t even a high-level fighter anymore. Now he likes drugs. He needs to go to rehab and mind his own business. He doesn’t need to fight anymore,” Abdelaziz said.
Khabib retired from MMA last October after his victory over Justin Gaethje and has been turning down several requests to resume his fighting career. As well as proposals for a rematch against eternal rival Conor McGregor.
Khabib was in the US this week to corner his cousin Usman, who fought and won at Bellator. The former UFC champion is now dedicated to business and also helping his training partners in Russia, taking over from his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who died in 2020 due to Covid-19.
McGregor is coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier in the recent trilogy between the two, suffering a fractured ankle that required the Irishman to undergo surgery. Now, he is recovering from his injury and should only fight again in 2022.
However, the former UFC lighweight champion decided to raise the tone and even include death threats. Post-fight footage that went viral on social media shows a video of McGregor sitting by the octagon grille screaming at Poirier and his wife. Imitating gun gestures with their hands, he threatened to kill them both while they were sleeping.
“While you’re sleeping, you’ll see. You and your Mrs will die in your sleep. It ain’t over,” McGregor shouted at his rival.
