FA Cup Results: Win 4-3, Red Devils to the Semifinals!

The results of Manchester United vs Liverpool in the 2023-2024 FA Cup Quarterfinals are already known. The match at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, Sunday (17/3/2024), ended with a score of 4-3 via extra time for the Red Devils.

Man United’s four goals were scored by Scott McTominay (10′), Antony (87′), Marcus Rashford (112′), and Amad Diallo (120+1′). Meanwhile, Liverpool responded through Alexis Mac Allister (44′), Mohamed Salah (45+2′), and Harvey Elliott (105′).

The hosts tried to kick things off at the start of the match. Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s shot from inside the penalty box in the second minute was unfortunately too slow and led to Caoimhin Kelleher’s catch. Two minutes later, Marcus Rashford’s kick forced the goalkeeper to make a save.

Man United opened the scoring in the 10th minute! Starting from Alejandro Garnacho’s kick, the ball was pushed over by Kelleher, and McTominay kicked it in!

The goal sparked the hosts’ enthusiasm. In the 24th minute, Bruno Fernandes’ free kick still bounced slightly over the Liverpool goal. Man United had another chance in the 31st minute through Victor Lindelof’s header, but Kelleher caught the ball.

Wataru Endo scored a goal in the 37th minute. However, the referee annulled it because there was an offside violation in the process of the goal. Liverpool actually equalized the score in the 44th minute. Mac Allister successfully beats Onana from inside the penalty box!

The visiting team even succeeded in turning things around in injury time. Salah managed to score a goal using a thrown ball. Liverpool leads 2-1 over Man United.

After the break, both teams played openly. However, Liverpool is still more dangerous. They had a chance in the 56th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai’s temporary shot from outside the penalty box but it was parried by Onana. After four minutes, Mac Allister’s free kick went up slightly.

After that, the match went a little flat. The Red Devils finally scored a goal in the 87th minute! Through a counter-attack, substitute Antony successfully kicked the ball in from inside the penalty box. Rashford got a golden opportunity in the final minutes but his shot went wide so the match ended 2-2.

Erik ten Hag’s team tried to take advantage of the momentum after taking a short break. Antony threatened again in the 92nd minute, but his shot went slightly over the crossbar. In the 101st minute, Lindelof threatened with a hard shot but it hit the outside of Kelleher’s goal.

However, Liverpool actually scored a goal through Elliott in the 105th minute. The English player’s long-range shot hit Harry Maguire and made Onana too late to anticipate.

Maguire then had a chance in the 111th minute to make amends, but his shot was well parried by Kelleher. Again, Man United equalized the score in the 112th minute, this time through Rashford’s low kick!

In the 116th minute, McTominay almost scored his second goal. However, the Scottish player’s shot went narrowly wide. Diallo then made the whole Old Trafford roar! His goal via a counter-attack scheme in the final minutes ensured the Red Devils won 4-3!
