The Philadelphia 76ers could have a turbulent start to the season after yet another second-round exit from the 2022/23 playoffs . That’s because of Joel Embiid’s controversial statement indicating he might want a trade from the Sixers if he doesn’t feel like he’s going to fight for the title anytime soon.

“I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes. I don’t know where this will happen. Whether with Philadelphia or anywhere else.” Embiid said.

“But I want to have a chance to achieve this. My desire above all else is to do as much as I can to win a title. I want to see how it feels to win once, and finally, try the second and so on.” Embiid added.

Additionally, the current NBA MVP still the direction of the 76ers in search of reinforcements.

“I know it is not an easy thing. Above all, it takes more than one, two or three guys. It’s about cohesion, having good people on your side. I’m working hard everyday so I can make this happen, I want to win.” Embiid said.

“I want to show that I can be like the players who have achieved this goal, it’s a desire that I love. I understand the business, I enjoy it, and most of all I think I am very blessed,” he added.

The pivot was in Los Angeles for the launch of his movie studio. He also commented on the other star who accompanied him during the last season, James Harden.

Embiid, then, said he was confident, until the last month, that the point guard would return to the franchise.

If someone wants to take Joel Embiid off the Sixers for a trade, the financial mission won’t be easy. The center recently signed a four-year, $213 million extension with the franchise.

The MVP’s annual wage exceeds the $53 million annual mark. The contract runs through the 2026/27 season, when he will have a player option worth more than $59 million.
