Harry Kane Open to Leaving Tottenham Hotspur

Sources have told ESPN that Harry Kane is considering leaving Tottenham if the club accepts a transfer fee but does not push for a move this summer.

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that Kane had no intention of signing a new contract with the Premier League club.

Sources say Spurs hope to turn down interest from Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United by striking a long-term contract for Kane, as his £200,000-a-week contract has just a year left.

However, his refusal to sign a new contract has put new pressure on Spurs, who are unwilling to allow Kane to leave the club.

Chief executive Daniel Levy values Kane at around £100 million ($128.5 million), but he is not looking to lose his star striker if new head coach Ange Postecoglou takes over at the club.

But Spurs are at risk of losing Kane for nothing in 2024 and a big bid for Kane could force them to rethink.

Two bids from Bayern have been turned down so far, one bid worth around £70m.

Manchester United are interested in Harry Kane but have yet to make a formal offer as they believe Levy will make a deal difficult.

Significantly, Kane is not under pressure to leave the club and sources have told ESPN that he still has the option to stay at the club and even agree a new contract at the end of next season if the club thrives under Postecoglou.

However, Kane is ready to leave if Tottenham decide to let him go and is deemed open to a move, while Bayern remain confident of luring him to Germany.

The club held at least one meeting with Levy, while Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel reportedly met with Kane to discuss the move.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness said last week: “Harry Kane has clearly signaled in all the conversations that his decision stands – and if he keeps his word, then we will arrest him, because Tottenham have to concede.”

However, Bayern are yet to offer a financial package that would convince Spurs to part ways with their all-time leading scorer.

Spurs resume their pre-season training this weekend in Thailand with a game against Leicester City on Sunday.
