Jurgen’s Farewell Speech to Liverpool Squad: The sky is the limit for you

After saying goodbye to Liverpool fans, Jurgen Klopp gave a special farewell speech to the Reds squad in the dressing room at Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool host Wolverhampton in Week 38 of the 2023/2024 Premier League at Anfield, Sunday (19/05/2024). This match was won by the Reds with a score of 2-0.

Liverpool won thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah. Wolverhampton themselves played with 10 players because Nelson Semedo was sent off midway through the first half.

This result strengthens Liverpool’s position in third place in the final Premier League standings. They scored 82 points from 38 matches, nine points behind Manchester City, who won the league.

After the match, Jurgen Klopp underwent a special ceremony on the pitch. He posed with FSG owner, John Henry, and several Liverpool officials.

Klopp also then gave a farewell speech to Liverpool fans. He also did a ‘fist pump’ with the supporters for the last time.

After all the ceremonies ended, Klopp gave a special farewell speech to the Liverpool squad in the players’ dressing room. “I love you, that’s all I can say,” said Klopp, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

“The football you play is crazy, I can’t wait to see you develop, take the next step,” he continued.

This season it was said that Liverpool would be able to compete with Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. But in the end the Reds only finished in third place and City emerged as champions.

However, Klopp wants the Liverpool squad to remain proud. The reason is that they were the only team that was previously able to stop City’s dominance and this season after undergoing team dismantling, the Reds were immediately able to finish in third position.

“Third position, I still don’t know who will be champions? Man City. Well, the only one who stopped it was us (in 2020) and who can do it again?”

“I said this morning that people might say that [a trophy won] is not enough, they don’t know anything about football. Can we do better at times? Yes, it’s always possible. But are we doing better than you would normally expect? Oh yes, because it takes longer to become a top team again and you do it like this (clicking fingers) and then the expectations vary and we can’t keep up, that’s a bit of the problem,” he said.

“But apart from that we were third in the first season of Liverpool 2.0 and from now on with new energy from outside and new influence, with you proving yourself, it’s good to squeeze everything out of your career.

Jurgen Klopp then said he really loved the Liverpool squad. He also admitted that he was very proud to be part of this club and team.

He was also grateful for being allowed to be part of the Liverpool squad for a long time. Klopp also pumped up the motivation of Virgil van Dijk et al by saying they could still perform much better in the future.

“I want to say I love you guys. Thank you for the ride, I’m so proud to be a part of this,” he exclaimed.

“Thank you very much, and yes, the sky is the limit for you. Thank you,” concluded Klopp.
