Kylian Mbappe has equaled Pele record for the most goals scored in a World Cup before the age of 24, something no one has done in more than 50 years.
Behind Mbappe and there are Gyula Zsengeller (Hungary), James Rodriguez (Colombia) with the same six goals, Oscar Miguez (Uruguay), Johan Neeskens (Netherlands), Emilio Butragueno (Spain), Teofilo Cubillas (Peru) with the same five tables.
Mbappe scored a brace in the 2-1 win over Denmark in the second round of Group D of the 2022 World Cup on Sunday night.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker hit the seven-goal mark at the World Cup. Historically, only Pele had got the same feat before his 24th birthday.
Mbappe can dominate the first place, even breaking this record, when he will play at least two more matches, including the last match of the group stage against Tunisia on November 30 and the match in the last 16 round, because France has definitely passed through the group stage of the World Cup 2022.
During the first World Cup of 2018, Mbappe – when he was less than 18 years old, contributed four goals and one assist, helping France win the title.
He also equaled two other records of Pele, including becoming the second teenager in history to score in a World Cup final and the second teenager to score a brace in a single match at the match.
Mbappe has a record equal to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, more than Harry Kane, Neymar (six goals), and one less than Cristiano Ronaldo with seven goals at the World Cup.
In the history of the World Cup, Mbappe is one of only 30 players who have scored more goals.
Currently Miroslav Klose is the top scorer in the World Cup with 16 goals, followed by Ronaldo Nazario (15), Gerd Muller (14), Just Fontaine (13), Pele, Sandor Kocsis, Jurgen Klinsmann (11).
