Lance Stroll delivers good and bad news

Williams Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll on Wednesday announced good and bad news at the dawn of the free practice of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.

The good news is the 19-year-old said Williams was finally able to target in Barcelona’s private testing last week some problems that have prevented the car from performing well since the start of the campaign.

“It was a good test, we shot a lot. We have identified a number of things. It allowed us to find many glitches. To solve them, however, it will take time.” said Stroll during a press briefing in the Principality of Monaco.

The bad news is without going into details, Stroll said that fans will not expect to see Williams progress by July. This means that the chances of the British team making a splash at the Canadian Grand Prix in two weeks are practically nothing.

“Our goal is to fight with midfield teams, and we hope to do so by the British Grand Prix or the German Grand Prix. We want to fight regularly for ranking points.” Stroll said.

Stroll, who had scored his first points in F1 in his ninth place at the Canadian Grand Prix last June, is well aware that this is a frustrating season. He is currently sitting in the 15th place in the championship with four points, earned by virtue of his eighth place at the Azerbaijani GP.

“Yes, it’s for everyone at Williams. We are not where we want to be. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with what I have achieved so far in the first five races of the season,” Stroll said.

“Even from my 11th place at the Spanish Grand Prix when we were totally out of the game. I want to be the best driver possible, and extract the maximum of the car I have.” he added.

Moreover, the main interested believes that the Monaco Grand Prix, the premier event of motorsport, could book some surprises this weekend, especially because of its unique configuration.

“It’s a different track, unique, and Monaco requires a stable, balanced car. If we can not count on that, then it becomes hazardous.” Stroll said.

“I try not to make expectations, and just give the best of myself on the track. Despite this, as we have often seen in the past, things can happen on the track and allow you to record a good result.” the Canadian driver added.
