Laporta Insists Barcona Wll Not Lose Their Minds over a Player

Joan Laporta has claimed Barcelona don’t want more players to join the club. The president also insisted it ‘makes no sense’ to sign players with the squad he has.

Barcelona are one of the clubs which Erling Haaland is seriously considering; however, Borussia Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, wants to keep the super striker with Dortmund and has claimed to know where the player will end up next season.

“I can say that we will not carry out any operation that puts the institution at risk. It has been a maxim that we have followed. Barcelona will not lose their heads for an operation of this magnitude.” Laporta said.

“Most players want to come to Barça, they like the club, the team, our philosophy, our way of working, understanding football.

“They will have to adapt to salary levels and an economic structure that maintains the sustainability and balance of the club,” Laporta added.

Barcelona signed the likes of Aubameyang, Daniel Alves, Adama Traore and Ferran Torres this season. The Catalan team is in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, in addition to being third in the LaLiga standings so far.

“We are working so that the salary cap we have, which according to LaLiga is quite negative, reverts to incorporating players who strengthen the team.” Laporta said.

“We are doing this in parallel, working on the financial issue and obtaining more resources to have the wage margin we need, and at the same time we are working from the sports management to incorporate reinforcements that we think the team needs to be increasingly competitive.” he added.

Xavi Hernandez’s side on Monday trashed Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu and extended the team’s unbeaten streak of the season to 12 games.
