Marc Marquez Makes Ducati Debut at Valencia MotoGP Test

Marc Marquez embarked on a new chapter in his illustrious career, taking to the track for the first time aboard a Ducati Desmosedici GP22 during the post-season MotoGP test at Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo on Wednesday.

Marquez, who had spent his entire MotoGP career with Honda, made the bold decision to switch to Ducati for the 2024 season, seeking a fresh start and a new challenge.

The Valencia test marked his first opportunity to experience the raw power and unique handling characteristics of the Ducati, a machine renowned for its aggressive riding style.

Despite the unfamiliarity with his new steed, Marquez quickly adapted to the Ducati, showcasing his remarkable talent and ability to adapt to different machinery.

He consistently improved his lap times throughout the day, culminating in an impressive fourth-fastest time, just 0.171 seconds behind pacesetter Maverick Viñales.

“I’m really happy with how the test went today,” Marquez said after the day’s conclusion.

“I was able to get a good feel for the Ducati and make some progress throughout the day. I’m still learning the bike, but I’m already feeling confident with it.

“The Ducati is a very different bike to the Honda. It’s more physical, and it requires a different riding style.” he added.

Marquez’s impressive debut on the Ducati sent shockwaves through the MotoGP paddock, hinting at a potential resurgence for the Spaniard in the upcoming season.

His seamless transition to the Ducati raised expectations for his performance in 2024, with many anticipating a fierce rivalry between him and his new teammate, Enea Bastianini.

The Valencia test marked the beginning of a new era for Marc Marquez, as he embarked on a journey with Ducati.

His impressive debut performance fueled anticipation for the 2024 MotoGP season, promising a thrilling spectacle of racing and a potential championship battle between Marquez and the Ducati armada.
