Sassuolo vs AC Milan results: Score 3-3

AC Milan survived defeat in the 32nd giornata of Serie A 2023/2024. Visiting Sassuolo’s headquarters, the Rossoneri were able to steal one point after the match ended with a score of 3-3.

Sassuolo took the lead thanks to goals from Andrea Pinamonti and a pair of goals from Armand Lauriente, while AC Milan was able to equalize thanks to goals from Rafael Leao, Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor.

This additional point makes AC Milan even stronger in second place in the Serie A standings with 69 points. Meanwhile, Sassuolo is also stuck in 19th place with 26 points.

Playing at Mapei Stadiu, Sassuolo immediately stepped on the gas. Neroverdi tried to score a quick goal against Milan.

Sure enough, after only four minutes of the match, Sassuolo managed to open up the lead over the visitors. Starting from Volpato’s movement on the right side, he sent a pass into the middle which Thorstvedt passed to Pinamonti, then the striker grabbed it with a volley and it became a goal. Sassuolo lead 1-0 over the visitors.

This goal made Sassuolo even more motivated to attack. Four minutes later, Armand Lauriente scored Sassuolo’s second goal. Starting from his individual action from the left side, he fired a shot at Milan’s goal but was stopped by Sportiello. Unfortunately the tipped ball fell near the winger’s feet and he was free to convert the opportunity into a goal. Sassuolo is 2-0 ahead of Milan.

Being left behind by two goals did not make Milan discouraged. The Rossoneri tried to increase the intensity of their attacks. Samuel Chukwueze managed to break into Sassuolo’s goal in the 17th minute, but VAR did not validate the goal because the player was already in an offside position.

In the 20th minute, Milan’s effort was successful. Rafael Leao reduced the position to 2-1 after his low shot from the left side failed to be blocked by Consigli.

After the goal, the match became more intense. Sassuolo seemed to have been slapped and then increased the intensity of their attacks again.

At the end of the first half, Consigli managed to thwart AC Milan’s two consecutive golden opportunities through Florenzi’s free kick and Theo Hernandez’s shot. The score 2-1 remained in favor of the hosts at half-time.

In the second half, Sassuolo made one substitution. Gregoire Defrel comes on and replaces Cristian Volpato.

Defrel’s entry had an instant impact on Neroverdi. Because in the 53rd minute, the striker gave a pass to Lauriente, and the winger hit the ball into Milan’s goal. The hosts are 3-1 ahead of the guests.

Milan immediately gave an instant reaction to the goal. In the 58th minute, Milan reduced the position to 3-2 after Leao’s cross which was blocked by Consigli made the ball fall near Jovic, and the striker immediately hit the ball into Sassuolo’s goal.

This goal made Milan even more confident. In the 63rd minute, Samuel Chukwueze was again unlucky, because his goal against Sassuolo was again disallowed by VAR because he was in an offside position.

Milan, who continued to bombard Sassuolo’s defense, managed to equalize the score at 3-3 in the 84th minute. Taking advantage of the chaos in the Sassuolo goal, Okafor grabbed the ball from Matteo Gabbia’s chest pass into a goal.

In the remainder of the match, both teams tried to score the winning goal. However, until the referee blew the whistle to signal the end of the match, the score remained 3-3.
