UCL Semifinals First Leg: Manchester City vs Real Madrid 4-3

The Manchester City squad managed to beat Real Madrid 4-3 in the 2021/22 Champions League semifinal first leg duel.

The Champions League First Leg Semifinal match between Manchester City vs Real Madrid was held on Tuesday (26/4/2022) at the Etihad Stadium.

The exciting match between Manchester City vs Real Madrid was fierce as predicted. The buying and selling of attacks occurred throughout the match, raining seven goals over 90 minutes as proof.

Kevin De Bruyne (2′), Gabriel Jesus (11′), Phil Foden (53′) and Bernardo Silva (74′) scored four of Man City’s goals this time. Madrid three times reduced the position through Karim Benzema (33′, 82′) and Vinicius Junior (55′).

This 4-3 score makes everything still open for the second leg match next week.

Entering the second half, Manchester City scored the third goal after Fernandinho’s cross in the 53rd minute was successfully headed by Phil Foden without Thibaut Courtois being able to anticipate.

Two minutes later, Real Madrid drew the score after Vinicius had beaten Fernandinho into the box and fired home to beat Ederson.

In the 74th minute, Manchester City took the lead again after Bernardo Silva managed to retrieve the ball in a play-on situation after Oleksandr Zinchenko was tackled and fired a shot that Courtois couldn’t anticipate.

Real Madrid opened up hope in the 82nd minute, after being awarded a penalty following Aymeric Laporte’s handball, and Karim Benzema who became the executor successfully beat Ederson with a Panenka shot.

Although there were several opportunities created, there were no additional goals until the game was over, and Manchester City won 4-3 over Real Madrid.

Manchester City and Real Madrid still have a chance to get tickets to the Champions League final this season through the second leg match which will be held at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
