According to a report, Lionel Messi may dramatically return to Barcelona after his wife doesn’t like life in Paris.
Messi went to France to join Paris Saint Germain (PSG) after his contract was unable to be extended by Barcelona.
But only half a season at PSG, rumors about his departure from Parc de Princes have emerged.
According to El Nacional, Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, has told her husband that she is not happy in the French capital.
Roccuzzo even put pressure on La Pulga to return to Catalonia.
Messi’s three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro who are still struggling to learn French also miss their former Barcelona friends.
Not only that, the Messi family also does not fit in with the weather in Paris which is said to be much worse than in the Castelldefels region, where they used to live.
In his latest interview, Lionel Messi confirmed that his wife asked him to return to Barcelona someday after his contract at PSG ended.
He did not hesitate, La Pulga also confirmed that he was ready to end and not extend his contract at PSG if the validity period had expired.
“I don’t know when my contract with PSG will end,” said Lionel Messi in an interview with Sport (Catalan media), reported by the Daily Mail.
“But what I can confirm and for sure, is that we (Messi and his family) will stay in Barcelona and live together there again.
“That’s what my wife and I want in the future,” he said.
Despite Antonella Roccuzzo’s desire to return to life in the City of Barcelona, Lionel Messi explains what he misses about the Blaugrana.
“Everyone! That’s a lot of time in the same place, the routine, the daily way of life, going to the dressing room that I’m very familiar with.
“Moving to Paris was a complete change, it meant arriving somewhere completely new, both the city and the club.
“I love the life I have at Barcelona, the club and that life is something I miss.
“That doesn’t mean things here (Paris and PSG) aren’t good,” he said
Earlier in December, Messi had a chance to confide in the Atletico Madrid striker and also his former partner at Barcelona, Luis Suarez.
Suarez revealed that Messi found it difficult to play in cold weather and snow.
“We talk every day, we always try to avoid expectations because we are players and we know how we have to act in those moments, we talk about the game, about the family,” Suarez said.
“He told me that when he plays in cold weather he suffers a lot with the snow,” he said.
Messi difficulty adapting not only off the field, but also on the field.
Under Mauricio Pochettino and alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, Messi has only managed to score one Ligue 1 goal this season and has often missed games due to injury and Covid.
In the report, Xavi and Dani Alves reportedly persuaded the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to return to Camp Nou.
But it certainly won’t be easy because Messi’s contract with PSG is still valid until 2023.
What’s more, Messi’s relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta did not go well after the two had different opinions about a contract extension.
However, Messi’s return to Barcelona could be possible because Blaugrana president Joan Laporta has made it clear that he is ready to bring La Pulga back to Camp Nou.
“I don’t rule it out [returning Messi]. It has happened with Dani Alves.” said Laporta during the introduction of Dani Alves.
