Premier League Result: Man City Beat Watford 3-1

Manchester City won a convincing victory with a score of 3-1 when they visited Watford in the Premier League, Sunday (5/12).

Playing at Vicarage Road, Man City appeared dominant and brought the hosts to their knees. The Citizens’ tap opened by Raheem Sterling in the fourth minute.

The England international striker managed to score a header using Phil Foden’s cross. Shortly after, Sterling almost increased City’s advantage, but his shot was saved by Daniel Bachmann.

Three minutes later, Raheem Sterling again threatened the host goal. Combing on the right side, Sterling then made several movements and then released a kick on target. The ball was pushed over by the Watford goalkeeper.

Bachmann made another important save in the 10th minute. This time he thwarted Jack Grealish’s flick from close range in the penalty box.

Watford threatened turns in the 17th minute. Through a quick counter-attack, Emmanuel Dennis penetrated the City penalty box after combing the right side. He released a measured kick, but still weak.

In the 31st minute, Man City managed to increase their advantage through Bernardo Silva using the rebound from Ilkay Gundogan’s shot.

The 2-0 score for Manchester City lasted until the referee blew the halftime whistle.

Manchester City still appear attacking after returning from the dressing room. Six minutes into the second half, Raheem Sterling fired a shot on target which was then parried by the home team’s goalkeeper.

Silva managed to score his second goal in the 63rd minute. Silva’s measured left foot shot from the right to the far post only stunned Bachman.

Watford managed to reduce the position to 1-3 in the 74th minute through Juan Hernandez.

Two minutes before normal time ended, Manchester City almost scored a fourth goal. Kevin De Bruyne fired a shot from outside the penalty box, but still slightly over the bar.

No more goals were created until the referee blew the long whistle. Manchester City won 3-1.

This result makes Man City rise to the top of the Premier League standings with a collection of 35 points, one point ahead of Liverpool who are in second place. While Chelsea had to drop to third position after being defeated by West Ham United 2-3.

Meanwhile Watford, who have lost three in a row, have not moved from the brink of relegation, are in 17th place with 13 points, according to the Premier League’s official website.

This result could be an injection of confidence for City, who last year went without losing in ten games in all competitions throughout December.

City next travel to Germany to face RB Leipzig in their Champions League Group A final on Tuesday (December 7) next week, before hosting Wolverhampton at the Etihad four days later.

Watford, meanwhile, will be looking to return to winning ways when they visit London against fellow promoted Brentford on Friday (10 December).
